My Favorite Place

My favorite place is drifting down the  Kahtnu (Kenai River) in Cooper Landing, Alaska.  The feel of the air, the view of the mountains and the water itself, a glacial bluish-green  river in color, make for an awe inspiring float trip.   Once you see and hear the rod bending and reel spinning, the energy of the moment jolts your mind and body into a frenzy as you bring in the fish to admire and release for another day.

  1. Hey Tommy, it's Dan Adair here. I have to post comments to 3 people and only 2 have done module #2 so far. Saw you were on here and thought I would say hello. Sorry I never called to do the canyon this summer. We ended up having over 2 months of company and I am bummed I never go to do that part of the river. It is the only part I have left to explore. Fished the middle river 1 week ago it was fair. Only a few big fish and salmon colored beads (10 mil) Most of them down around the Kenai Keys. Talk to ya later buddy

  2. I love your description of Cooper Landing. I've often said that if we ever get a vacation cabin, it has to be in Cooper Landing - it's one of my favorite places in Alaska. I drove through there this evening on my way home from a weekend in Seward and was again amazed by the magical the way the mountains and river all meld together. I am interested to hear more about how you teach grades k-12 singlehandedly. I will have to visit your blog again.
